Miniature, (Christian Bédard, United States 2009)
Shapely little buds start off a warm melon orange-yellow color set against a mound of clean, lush, deep-green leaves. As the buds swirl open, a most surprising hue of smoky purple begins to blush at the edge of each petal, lending a mysterious effect of orange ‘ringed’ with smoke. A great choice for a patio pot or tucked into the garden border.

Morgan S. (verified owner) –
This tough little plant survived (inadvertently) being allowed to dry out completely during its first winter, came back from nearly nothing, and for two years has been a three-season constant bloomer in a gallon pot. I’m growing it in the high desert, zone 7, and it lives outdoors in partial shade year round. This morning’s new blossom is a bright red-orange with a faint flush of purple shading at the petal tips. Bright yellow stamens really make the flowers pop. The red will deepen and the purple shading expand further into the petals as the flower ages. This one is a real attention-getter, and a big favorite with me.
