A native American variety, also known as the Pasture Rose. Fragrant bright pink single blooms emerge from May – July. Height 4 to 5 feet. Nice red fall foliage. Spreads with suckers, making it a good ground stabilizer.
I got mine last fall which is a great time to plant shrubs and trees in my North Florida garden. Over winter it went dormant as expected but then we had a hot spell followed by a hard frost so I was worried – wasted energy! Not only did R. Carolina snap back it did so with vigor and even found a shoot / runner about two feet away (I expected runners / suckers and paced it accordingly). No flowers yet but lots of vigorous growth!
