Mary Cookson –
In my zone 7b garden, Baron Girod de L’Ain is a vigorous, robust shrub. It grows tall, with lush medium-green foliage. The flowers are very unique, with the white frosting on the edges of the red petals. I’d read that this rose is thornless, but it does have prickles, somewhat like a rugosa. It’s not likely to grab your sleeves, but it’s not smooth, either. It’s a really lovely rose in the landscape, though. I’m very pleased with it.
