Bourbon (François Lacharme, France, 1871)
A truly beautiful showpiece in the garden, cupped white blooms with hints of pink come in flushes all season. The bush has an arching habit that can be trained along fences as a smaller climber. Very disease resistant and hardy to zone 5.
Pronounced: ko-keht day bla(n)sh – from French Rose Names by Diana Bellucci

I don’t know what possessed me to but this rose, but I’m glad I did. This is my largest of all the roses I planted because all the others died back down to the ground this winter (zone 5). Not this one, though. And she is blooming like crazy now! Gorgeous!

I’ve slowly started to experiment with the Bourbon class of roses and this one has me wanting more. She got a slow start last year but still produced the most incredibly fragrant blooms. Winter survival was about half which considering the year was pretty impressive and she’s getting going beautifully this spring. I’m in Wyoming, zone 4, and I think that this is a rose well worth having.
