My orange Elf is healthy and looks nice trained on a small trellis. This is only its second year in my garden, but I haven’t seen many blooms yet. I hope it’s just focusing on roots now. I have it near a True Passion shrub on one side, and Queen of Hearts on the other.

This rose has been very vigorous. Ordered later in the season in zone 5, so I’m overwintering it in my unheated basement under LEDs. Currently sending up new shoots and even has a few buds.

I grew my Orange Elf in a pot in partial shade for the first two years, with minimal attention. It grew beautifully, although it did not bloom well in that environment. The foliage is very attractive – small graceful leaflets that stay fresh-looking, pretty and clean. This spring I transplanted Orange Elf into the garden in full sun. It settled in without a moment’s hesitation and is now blooming well. The blossoms of this particular plant are not the bright yellow pictured above, but open a soft buttery peach, gradually fading to nearly white. Delicate-looking, but tough. A lovely little rose.
