Empty Pockets was named in memory of my father-in-law, Wendell Stockwell. Wendell was a very funny man who, in the process of getting a divorce from my mother-in-law, used to boast that the divorce gave him “Empty Pockets.” He even would turn his pants pockets inside out to prove that they were indeed “Empty.” He ran a salvage yard in Rhode Island, and had “Empty Pockets” painted on his trucks, and on the walls in his salvage yard. However, the many who knew him, knew that his pockets were definitely not “Empty”, and only need to check the other pockets in his clothes that were not turned inside out to find a very healthy cache of money.
