Climber – Shrub (Dr. Frank Skinner, Canada, before 1964)

Fragrant blooms are deeply cupped with varied hues of pink ranging from pale pink to a deep orchid. They hang pendulously in large clusters from arching 9 to 12 foot canes. Nearly thornless! The bush can be grown as a large shrub, 6 feet by 5 feet, or trained to grow as a climber on an archway. Recurrent bloom from spring through fall.

Fantastic rose! Planted late last year and this spring has already growing into a magnificent plant! Multitude of blooms, heavenly scent!

Wafting scent – strongest fragrance of all my roses; got one from High Country in spring 2020 and three more in fall 2021

  3. Donna Mack (verified owner)

Fabulous rose! I planted it in 2013 and it blooms faithfully every spring while becoming larger and larger. Repeat bloom is very strong. The flowers are lovely and distinctive. A very easy care rose. I have ordered another.

First time rose grower – I had heard such good things about High Country Roses and I’m so pleased to say I agree! Lovely people that are happy to answer your questions (no matter how silly!) and lovely healthy plants too. I received my Victorian Memory in June of this year and it was such a small little thing, but I could see it had strong roots and it has absolutely exploded with growth in the few months I’ve had it – even though it was kept in a pot and hardly checked on! Very excited to see how it does this Spring now that it’s in the ground, but so far it has exceeded my expectations with long, easy to bend canes, lovely foliage, and essentially no thorns. Perfect for a beginner and in my opinion idiot-proof!

By the end of it’s second summer this rose is 4’+ high and it really is thornless. I think the flowers smell a little bit like a Christmas tree, it’s really pleasant. It is perfect for next to a path. 5b Denver area.

Such a delicate old fashioned looking bloom on a plant that is anything but delicate!
Incredibly vigorous, this plant will fill an area quickly, covering it in pink.
It handles the cold with flying colors.

This rose is tough!!! Green to the tips even after rough winters at 5,870ft. She is thornless (mostly), fragrant, re-blooms and already stretching close to 9 x4 feet in the third season. Definitely a favorite.

The bloom color is a bright pink but not garish. The hardiness is awesome. (I’m zone 4a/b and it’s doing very well–third year plant is 6-7′ tall).

What a neat rose to have in the garden! It really isn’t like anything else I grow. I have mine in a spot that’s hard to fill between a fence and a path, and because it has such a nice upright growth with smooth canes, it is the perfect rose for that place. It doesn’t reach out and snag anyone and it looks lovely on the fence. I’m very happy with it!

I’ve only had it for 2 years. So its blooming has not hit its full potential. It does get a little black spot here. Wonderful fragrance

This is a really pretty rose. I grew this for several years at a farmhouse I rented on the North Dakota prairie. It was Extremely hardy to the tip in zone 3 in spite of brutal winters (-35°f and 50 mph winds). It did have snow cover for about half to 2/3 of the bush height. And it grew to about 5 feet tall (which is tall in zone 3!). It bloomed heavily and repeatedly. The blossoms look exactly like the photos above. To my nose the fragrance was “peppery” and lightly sweet. The perception of scent is so nuanced and individual and is affected by microclimates and soil quality etc. When I got married and moved to the Turtle Mountains (still zone 3) I didn’t take it with me only because it was too big to imagine trying to dig up even though it is fairly thornless. Well, after a few years without her I’ve really begun to miss her so I just reordered it for the 2025 season and can hardly wait to have this rose friend back. It will be interesting to see if the scent is different or stronger in a more sheltered area. I will update my experiences with it as time goes by.

The best rose I’ve ever grown! Easily 15 feet tall, green to the tips at 6700’ and amazing wafting fragrance. No thorns either! Wish I could add a photo!

I’ve grown this one as a climber for 10+ years, no small feat in Wyoming! Pretty clear pink color, and performs very well with minimal care!

Ordered in 2023. Growing zone 5a (recently changed from 4b). This is my favorite rose I’ve grown so far. I planted it on the western side of my chicken run for beauty and late-day shade. Nothing fazes this rose. Not the 3 feet of snow pack, the japanese beetles, even the unprecedented amount of rain that turned the yard into a swamp for weeks. This rose grew quickly to cover the western side of the run and is now growing around the corner to cover the northern side. It puts out a massive number of large blooms with a lovely fragrance. The chickens love eating the spent petals (not sprayed). This is the perfect rose, in my opinion.

We have had this rose for almost a year. I kid you not, it is over six feet tall! It shot up after Spring this year, when it was only about 18 inches tall. I thought I lost it over the winter, but it came right back with a vengeance. Mine is not really an orchid color but more of a light pink. Maybe it will deepen over time. Very pleased with this product and all the service and help from High Country Roses!

I grow this rose in the Twin Cities. It is extremely vigorous. Took a little dieback last year, in a tough winter, but it already grows so much that I wish it would die back more! Flowers the whole year round. Good fragrance.

Wow! This is the first year for this rose and it has put out so much growth and fragrant pink blossoms.
Its canes are long and flexible. Looking forward to next year.
