Rose Stories – Raspberry Cupcake

Raspberry CupcakeA Rose (love) Story – by Kimberly Dean

Hi Rose Buds 🌹

I am gardening in zone 8a with clay soil and high humidity, and I am always looking for top performers to share with you. Raspberry Cupcake is a nearly carefree Hybrid Tea that I hope you will consider this season.

Raspberry Cupcake, can also be found under the following names:

  • Fräulein Maria
  • Fräulein Maria von Jever
  • KO 08/2024-25
  • KORcarmsis
  • Mademoiselle Maria
  • Raspberry Parfuma ®

Kordes & Sons bred Raspberry Cupcake in 2008, and it was introduced in Germany in 2019 as ‘Fräulein Maria von Jever’ where it was the winner of the ADR (All Germany Rose Trial).

Star Roses and Plants found that the rose was an excellent performer against common rose diseases in their “no spray trials” in Pennsylvania and it was enthusiastically introduced in the United States in 2023 as ‘Raspberry Cupcake’.

I added 10 bare root (own root) Raspberry Cupcake to my garden that same year and couldn’t believe how quickly they grew. In the first season, all 10 bare roots had reached the full mature size at 3’-4’ tall and 3’ wide. I also have two placed I partial shade and they bloom well.

In this photo, I have a grouping of eight Raspberry Cupcake. The unique bloom color is a “Head Turning” deep fuchsia that fades to a lighter pink on the outer petals. The leaves are a dark shiny green, and the blooms are nearly 4” in size. It is no surprise that this top performer was added to the Star Roses and Plants “Scentables” line with its fruity fragrance.

I hope you will consider planting Raspberry Cupcake as it is rated at zone 5 and warmer.
