Shrub (Meilland International, France, 1989)
Red Meidiland is a low-growing shrub, or ground cover rose, that produces clusters of bright red flowers with white centers and yellow stamens. An ideal choice for edging a path or planting bed, covering a slope, cascading over a wall, or forming a low barrier to foot traffic. A heavy bloomer all season long and will produce hips if not cut back. Exceptionally cold tolerant.
Pronounced: may-dee-la(n) – from French Rose Names by Diana Bellucci
