Rosa gallica versicolor (Rosa Mundi)

$27.95

Gallica (known prior to 1581)

***Still growing – stock update in late April 2026***

A spontaneous mutation of the Apothecary Rose named for Henry II’s mistress, Rosamond. Dramatic semi-double blooms in early summer are blush white randomly striped with shades of pink, crimson and light purple. Held in large sprays, the fragrant blooms hold their scent well and are ideally suited for potpourri. The bush forms a compact shrub, 4 feet tall and wide, with dark, grayish green foliage.

A nice rose. Often times it can produce blooms of The Apothecary’s rose at the same time as the variegated blooms, so it can be a two for one bush.

Great old fashioned rose! Very hardy and reliable. Unfortunately after many years, mine seems to have reverted to the Apothecary’s rose, which is also nice, but I loved the stripes. It suckers a lot which doesn’t bother me because it can fit in with the perennials I have but could be a problem for some people.
