Miniature / Moss (Ralph S. Moore, United States, 1988)
This is one of the most unique roses I have ever come across. Scarlet Moss is a miniature / moss rose with intense medium red flowers that are a stark contrast to its abundant emerald green. Heavily mossed buds are a show by themselves. Some detect a cinnamon fragrance.

I was so happy to find this exquisite moss rose here, one of my top favorites. I could say I love it as much for the deep emerald green stems, thorns and mossy sepals as the scarlet flower with the large showy mass of golden stamens in the center. The vibrant green and red are perfect compliments to this compact plant. I love opposites, the English roses with 100‘s of petals and then this rose along with the 1925 single, Dainty Bess and the China Rose single, Mutables. Bought all 3 at High Country Roses. Matt, by the way couldn’t be nicer or more helpful man. My roses also arrived overnight, which was a big plus in our 100+ temps. A mega thumbs up!👍 John Beaty

I love, love, love the dark red, velvety color of this rose! The dark green foliage is also beautiful without the blossoms, with a waxy look that is interesting and different from other roses. I agree with the other reviewer that the mass of golden stamens in the center provide a lovely contrast to the red petals. This rose makes you want to slow down and drink in its beauty.

I have two of these growing betwixt Angel Face and Earth Angel Parfuma. They put forth so many new canes in the first few weeks, I could scarcely believe my eyes. Stunning in colour. Petite and blooms in flushes, unlike true Moss specimens which are non-recurrent. Everything about this plant is lovely. The leaflets look as though they have been polished. Very thorny canes which are exactly like their larger cousins. I just had to try this lovely plant. I am glad I did. It is a pleasure to behold in full bloom! Thank you sincerely, High Country Roses, for making this plant available.
