Rambler – Hybrid Setigera (Samuel and John Feast, United States, 1843)
Baltimore Belle was a early summer masterpiece in our founder, Dr. Campbell’s garden. This classic rambler, from setigera parentage, blooms prolifically in clusters of 20 to 30, highly perfumed, and cupped pale pink flowers. An ideal choice for pillars or arches and can be groomed into a hedge.

I planted Baltimore Belle summer of 2024. Even though it was a baby band sized rose it gave me 1 bloom within a few weeks of planting her. The scent was strong, fruity and exquisite and gives me something to look forward to in coming years. She quadrupled in size from the time I received her until snow hit this week. Prior to the snow I gently curved her supple canes down and covered them with Alfalfa straw. I am in North Dakota planting zone 3 just a couple of miles from the Canadian border. But I get good snow cover and it is a sheltered area. So I’m hoping to do a bit of zone cheating here. I’ll give updates in coming years with my results.

Update on 2025 growing season in zone 3 near the Canadian border. Baltimore Belle grew so well for her 2nd year. The canes I lay down fall of 2024 got damaged not from the cold but from my bending in spite of my attempted gentleness. So this fall I left them up on their cattle panel arch and I will see what happens spring of 2026. I plan on wrapping in burlap in coming years but was too busy this past year as I had a baby in July. I watered when I could and let God do the rest. We had a fair amount of rain. Completely disease free. Shot new healthy canes up. Got a few more flowers (deer nibbled a bit). Overall very impressive rose. I am really looking forward to the 2026 growing season.
