Damask (Unknown, France, 1846)
The rose Madame A. Labbey is a bit of an enigma, with different sources listings it as a Centifolia, Hybrid Perpetual, or even as a Hybrid Gallica. We go with the eye test, and the majority, listing it as a a Damask Hybrid. Loosely double flowers are light pink with lavender undertones. Occasionally repeat blooms later in the season.
Pronounced: mah-dahm lah-bay – from French Rose Names by Diana Bellucci
