Miniature (Carruth, United States, 2013)
Diamond Eyes’ mysterious black-purple blooms with a white eye draw you in to experience a strong clove spice scent that is uncommon in miniature roses. Bred from Wild Blue Yonder, Diamond Eyes forms a rounded, lush green bush that tucks nicely into any landscape. Does well in a container.

I was lucky enough to receive a Diamond Eyes plant with a little flower bud and its first flower has been a real treat! When in the bud the petals look black, but when the flower opens they are a deep maroon color with a beautiful scent. The flowers also open fully so the bees can enjoy them as much as I do!

This is a tiny but mighty rose with a lovely scent. It’s unusual to have a miniature rose with a strong fragrance, but this one is fantastic. They start as the deepest darkest purple, nearly black, and lighten to a true purple with age, and they last several days on the plant for me. These mini roses are easy to care for and have been a wonderful addition to my 7b garden.

Cannot say enough nice things about this plant. Robust, leafs out before any other rose and not damaged by late frosts, good scent, and lovely colors. It has overwintered in a pot twice with no difficulty in 6a. Not bothered by the most scorching part of July with multiple 100F days in a row on the south side of my house (flowers will turn pink but it does not suffer).

Striking two-toned deep burgundy and white. Scent is spicy like cloves, although you have to put your nose up to the flower to smell it. A very special mini.
