Polyantha (Bentall, United Kingdom, 1932)

Introduced in 1932, The Fairy is an all time charmer of a rose with a vigorous, low-growing, and dense habit that makes it an excellent ground cover or container plant.  It’s frilly double pink flowers are straight out of a Fairytale and absolutely cover the bush all summer long. Foliage is glossy green. Height & spread 2 1/2 ft.  If trained, this variety will trail from a pot or border.

Low and compact, this one has yet to bloom (purchased earlier this year, 2020) but has shown excellent disease resistance in zone 7a and has been putting on lots of new growth. The Fairy is a winner so far!

Planted mid spring in low desert zone 9b. I planted 2 of these in a half barrel and have on drip irrigation in my meditation garden. These little troopers started blooming almost immediately and managed to survive one of the first summer which proved to be one of the driest and hottest summers on record. Prolific blooms until the height of heat, then dormant but holding on. Now we’re consistently below 100F and buds and new growth popping out. These are a sweet and delicate beauty, very pale blush color so far and starting to beautifully spill over the barrel. Very pleased!

This is such a precious rose. Grows weeping for me, and has the most darling tiny pink blooms. Great for textural interest in the rose garden!

This rose’s charm is not just in it’s sprays of tiny flowers ~ it’s also in the fact that there’s so many of them! It just covers itself in blooms.

Really small and not a lot of flowers this year, but it is growing slowly, and hopefully in a couple of years it will give me more flowers!

I adore this sweet little rose. The flowers are surprisingly great cut and dried.
