Charles de Mills is a great rose. Lovely shades of purple, mauve. I love that this rose spreads on its own roots.

  2. Rated 4 out of 5

    Linda Carolan – December 10, 2023

Remarkable unique Old Garden Rose that should be in every old rose collectors garden. Only 4 stars because it is a once bloomer – oh that it would bloom longer…

I have been looking for this rose never knew the name. I got this rose from my Mother it came from her Mother was born 1894 which passed along from her Mother, it is very fragrant, beautiful I have moved my rose from across From S. Georgia to Kentucky , Virginia, S.Carolina, Mississippi, back to S. Georgia very hardly every where I have lived. Did not buy from this Company but you cannot go wrong.

Like the others, I’ve loved this rose, but I have a warning. I left it to it’s own devices in a back part of my garden & It has suckered throughout a ten by ten area, that I now want to reutilize & I’m pulling the suckers out by the barrel full & still seeing new sprouts. If there’s any chance of this happening to you, keep Charles in a container, as I am now, or face his intensity for some time to come.

I love this rose also! I’m n NW Ga, zone 7-a/b. It’s about 2 yrs old, sprawling habit, lovely fragrance and beautiful blooms. I’m sure after year 3 that it will really take off!
