Fairmount Flouncy Pink

$25.95

Shrub (origin unknown – found in Denver’s Fairmount Cemetery)

I have been working with the roses in Fairmount Cemetery for over 15 years now, and had heard rumblings of a rose called Fairmount Flouncy Pink, but the rose had never caught my eye until this spring.  Originally cataloged in the 1990’s and subsequently moved into a preservation area, Fairmount Flouncy Pink has endured the years in relative obscurity like so many cemetery roses.  I’m glad to have finally made the discovery for myself.  This shrub seems to have some more modern rose characteristics that some of it’s cemetery brethren.  Layered medium pink double blooms sit upright on a rounded shrub with glossy green foliage.  Hardy at least to zone 5 and some later season rebloom.

Possibly Shailer’s Provence.
