I always order from highcountryroses and loved their collection and quality. However, was very disappointed with this order of Distant drums rose..It arrived very small 2 to 3 inches tall plant. I planted it in the flower bed. It never grew. All other Roses in the same flower bed took off. But this one stayed the same with 3 to 4 leaves on it..it never grew..so I waited until winter..the leaves fell off and now it’s spring and all other Roses have lot of new growth but this one didn’t come back..it is just the same..a small dry twig with no leaves sticking out of the ground..$32 down the drain! ๐Ÿ™

      Hi Sonal –
I’m sorry to hear about your Distant Drums. This plant can be a bit finicky. I guarantee all of our plants for a full year and I’m happy to replace the rose. I definitely don’t want you to feel like it was money down the drain. Let me know what you’d like to do.
      Thanks,
      Matt Douglas

This has become one of my favorite roses. It is one of the healthiest and easy care roses I have and blooms and blooms all season long. I have it growing in a very large pot and it does well there as well as in the ground. I feel like the bonus with this rose is that no 2 blooms ever look the same. It has a unique pleasant fragrance as well.

Slow growing and disease resistance is meh if you live in a hot and humid zone (I am in 7a) but the blooms more than make up for the fuss. This rose is truely worthy of the hype.

This rose is gorgeous. There isnโ€™t really another rose that has itโ€™s unique coloring, and it has been a great bloomer!

This rose couldn’t handle my tough Western North Carolina environment, but only the toughest survive in my yard! I live next to the woods and blackspot is the king here!

Unique coloring and gorgeous blooms. Health in zone 10b/coastal – not very good. It is prone to rust and is a slow grower.

The coloring on this rose is unbelievable! It gets the most comments in my garden. It’s a FINICKY plant (takes a lot of protection to get it to overwinter and thrive in my zone 5 Madison WI garden), but it’s worth the trouble. The coloring is out of this world! Grateful for an own root plant from High Country so even if it dies back a bit in our harsh winters it’s able to throw up new, healthy canes in the spring!

The blooms definitely rate 5 stars, but this plant spends most of the season completely defoliated because of blackspot in my humid zone 7a garden. I might try potting it up and seeing if a different spot would work better, because the blooms are absolutely worth it.

I ADORE this rose! It’s unique coloring is gorgeous! The blooms continually change color as they mature. It’s so neat to see many buds and blooms in various stages, growing on the bush, all in a different shade. It’s truly mesmerizing! This plant took a couple years to really get going size wise, but it has bloomed consistently for me, since I planted it 3 years ago in my 6a Colorado zone. I’d buy another one, if I could find it in stock here! ๐Ÿ™‚

Distant Drums is a beautiful! I just planted mine this year, but so far she is healthy. She does have some wicked, prickly thorns though.
